Veterinary office assistant
Marissa was born and raised in Calgary Alberta. She grew up working with animals and knew from a young age she wanted to always have animals in her life. She worked and managed many equine facilities in the past. She also rode competitively as a Canadian showjumper at facilities such as Spruce Meadows, Thunderbird Show Park, and Rocky Mountain Show Jumping. She has gained some of past veterinary knowledge from working in the equine field with large animal vets over the past years. Her previous schooling includes business school, medical certifications/diplomas, laser training, and a veterinary assistant certification.
After working in the human medical field for a few years she is now transitioning full time over to the veterinary field. She joined us as a receptionist and is now working as a veterinary assistant. After work and on her days off she continues to study and participate in webinars and online classes about veterinary science, to continue her education before she starts her science undergrad next year to then apply to the University of Calgary’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. Her passion for animal welfare and wellbeing drives her desire to continue growing her knowledge and giving back to animals in need for the rest of her life
